A work assignment brought the owners of this property from their Cotswold home in England to Australia, so when the decision was made to relocate permanently they were looking for somewhere rather special to build their Australian home. ?In many ways this approximately 2 acres block with its many trees and peaceful setting reminded us of home, and so we were sold,? say the couple. ?The next step was to build the home of our dreams. It took us a number of years to complete the project and during that time we lived in the self-contained three roomed cottage that we built for this purpose and then used as a pottery studio and workshop.?
Guided by their specific requirements and a clear vision, the result is a solid brick 3 bedroom home accessed by a private driveway and surrounded by pretty established gardens and surrounding native trees. A bonus is the conservation area across the road that offers 5.6kms of walking trails through native bushland.
With reference to its natural setting, timber is used extensively throughout the home, from the ceiling and feature wall (sourced from a winery brandy store )in the lounge, to the timber panelling in the entry hall and passage way. All of the bedrooms are doubles with the master and 2nd bedrooms both having walk-in robes. The bathroom and second toilet are located close to all of the bedrooms and the shower is even large enough for wheel chair access. A deep soak bath, another individual feature is large enough for two adults but will also be a special favourite with children.
The eat-in kitchen boasts solid timber cupboards, a stainless steel wall oven and gas cooktop. The adjoining dining room has direct access to the garden and a large paved patio and BBQ area. There is ample space to host lots of guests with the shade cloth covering keeping the summer heat at bay.
Insulation throughout and the solid brick construction assist the combustion heater and split system air conditioner to keep the home cosy throughout winter while ducted evaporative cooling makes for comfortable summer living.
Generous storage was another ?must have? and this has been achieved with a deep walk-in pantry in the kitchen, walk-in storage in the passage way as well as extra storage cupboards throughout.
Garaging under the main roof plus a separate double garage, workshop and garden shed provide storage for vehicles and gardening equipment and rain water tanks capture and store enough water for year round supply. An innovative approach to vegetable and herb growing in raised troughs with an ingenious watering system allows the owners to holiday for extended periods and still come home to a thriving garden. With much of the property left to native trees and shrubs the garden areas surrounding the house are both attractive and low maintenance.

A brick paved path winds towards the rear of the property where you will discover a treasure hidden between beautiful trees. A wonderful brick studio provides a new dimension to this rural retreat and offers a range of possibilities to the future owner. The studio is indeed a self-contained building equipped with verandah, entry, toilet & shower, kitchen area, bedroom and lounge room. The current owners lived in this studio during the construction of the main dwelling which provides some perspective as to the size and possible use of the building.
Complete with the comforts of air conditioning and gas hot water the studio presents a myriad of options; guest quarters, teenage retreat, workshop, home office, art studio or craft and workshop activities.
All of the care and attention that the current owners have lavished on this property and the lifestyle that it offers can now be enjoyed by a new family.
Here is a rare opportunity to escape the confines of city life and appreciate the tree change lifestyle that is the Barossa. Call today to arrange your own private viewing or attend our upcoming Open Inspection.
