In the Early 1900s, the first of the Athelstone Market Gardeners, The Fry Brothers, had a vision to create a lifestyle of peace, tranquility, and prosperity. They knew that finding the perfect site location, along with good old fashioned hard work was the key to success, and the fruits of their labour were cultivated through their cauliflower, potato, and strawberry crops surrounding their newly built home.
The Homestead and its adjacent Barn were built of stone carved from the cliffs of the now modern day Linear Park, just 100 metres away. Through the use of horse and cart, and back breaking heavy lifting, the stones were hauled to the top of the hill and then crafted into the Homestead and Barn which have both been fastidiously restored.
The expression "They don't build them like they used to", is an understatement!
An original Aerial photograph is framed and now hangs proudly inside the Barn residence.

Today 'The Barn' and the Original Homestead are both located on River Drive, one of Athelstone's most stunning promenades nestled amongst quality built homes. Sited on approximately 1281 square metres of land and situated atop a hill, 100 metres from Linear Park, this stunning historic home that previously housed horses and hay, has been converted and lovingly restored into a truly fabulous family home, perfect for those who love lifestyle living and entertaining. Comprising four bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious lounge/living, open plan formal entertaining, dining, fully renovated kitchen with quality appointments including Caesar stone bench top and Meile appliances. A gorgeous north facing entertainer's patio with breathtaking 180 degree views of the ever-changing majestic Sugar- Loaf hills awaits you.

The original 'Hay Loft' has been converted into the master suite with a generous walk in robe, windows on either side of the room to take in the cool summer gully breezes, maximising the natural light entering the room. In fact, there is a view from almost every window in the home! The other three remaining bedrooms boast a small 'loft' of their own which is perfect for a study area for the children therefore utilising floor space in the room. The formal entertaining/living room is complete with a 'themed' bar perfectly matched with the character of the home, and is exactly how you would expect a 'Barn Bar' to be. There is also garaging for 4 vehicles which includes a large workshop for any home handyman enthusiast or trades person offering plenty of storage space.
