One of the original guest houses of the area, and one of the few survivors left standing.

Comprising 4 reception rooms and a massive kitchen, 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms in the main building plus 2 bungalows, garaging and shedding. The former pond once had a fountain and was depicted in “Images of Yesteryear” c 1950s (181N) & in the rose series (p2511) showing a stream of water showering over the natural rock edged pool, together with original landscaping & the wide verandah and gabled end of the original building.

Testing the memories of local historians Howard & David Ham, they recounted Cyril Lloyd having operated ‘The Chalet’ followed by Carol Radford who subsequently moved on to Samford Place next to St Michaels Church further down Falls road. In the early 1920’s Harry Child used a steam traction engine to drive a crusher which provided gravel for the new road to Olinda.

This iconic property has been extended over the years and still retains some of the period features. The structure of the original building provides an excellent base for a serious renovator who would be prepared to restore this old girl to her former glory.
